A Long Winded Story With A Simple Message

I'm a quiz junkie.

I just can't resist taking a quiz if someone forwards me one.

Just this morning, I answered "This "Yes Or No" Quiz Will Determine Whether Or Not You Were Spoiled As A Kid" ( I wasn't);

Another, "This Quiz Will Reveal Whether Or Not You Went To A TV High School" made it pretty clear that I didn't;

And "If You Pass This "Harry Potter" Quiz, You Deserve A Spot At Hogwarts" shattered any illusions I had about training to be a wizard..

The internet is full of them right? Fun, entertaining, giving you something to talk (even brag) about - but ultimately a BIG WASTE OF TIME.

Quizzes are proliferating on the internet. Mostly entertaining, shocking or fun - but nevertheless a waste of time

But what if I told you about a quiz that really matters? One that helps you measure yourself in the areas of life that matter most—so that you can improve, unleash your true potential... and ultimately create the life you want?

I answered such a quiz (assessment really), earlier this week. It's called The LifeScore Assessment and is designed by my mentor and New York Times bestselling author Michael Hyatt. It’s a quick, free, online self-evaluation that gives you an overall LifeScore™—and exactly the information you need to measure, improve, and Unleash Your True Potential.

A Quiz that Really Matters

Taking stock of your life is very important. But it can be very hard. So any tool that makes it easier to measure my progress in all the key areas of life - is a winner in my eyes.

This is a very simple tool. You read a series of descriptive statements and pick the one that most closely aligns with where you perceive yourself to be. You then refine a bit based on your unique situation. It all adds up to your LifeScore™.

The magic is in the way those descriptive statements are crafted. I've used other life assessments before, but the way this one was set up really resonated with me. The statements that make up the descriptive scale made me think and I was able to easily determine what I most identified with. And the clever use of "better than, worse than" in the self scoring scale made it even easier to calibrate.

The end result is first of all an overall score - your LifeScore.

My LifeScore was 88. This means, overall I'm operating in the Zone of Success

overall life score

Your Overall LifeScore is an indicator of your overall satisfaction with life at present

While the Overall LifeScore is meaningful, the real value is in knowing how you scored in the individual life areas.

This year, my assessment showed that in 5 life areas I was operating in the Zone of Transformation (the highest level), in 3 life areas I was in the Zone of Success , in 2 areas I was in the Zone of Frustration and there was no area of life where I found myself in the Zone of Struggle.

My overall LifeScore and individual life-area scores give me the satisfaction that overall my life is currently in fair balance. However, this was not always the case..

My Journey Of Transformation

Just over a year ago, when I first attempted the web version of Michael's LifeScore Assessment (previously it was an Excel based tool), I had not been too happy about my score.

A year ago, 4 of my life-areas scored either in the Zone of Struggle or Zone of Frustration.

The improvement in these areas over the course of this year is neither random nor accidental. When last year's assessment showed me that I was not where I wanted to be in some very important areas of my life, I decided I had to do something about it.

So I decided to focus on a couple of key areas (Physical and Avocational) and built my personal development plan for 2017 around these. And the improvement in the results this year are based on intentionally working on my habits and routines including:

  • Making an hour of walking a part of my daily routine
  • Practising simple yogasanas to improve flexibility, core strength and reduce back pain
  • Automating donations to charities and developmental organisations in the area of education
  • Supporting local businesses and businesses promoting sustainable practices, by buying from them vs chasing the lowest prices online
  • Volunteering my time and skills to help people who otherwise wouldn't think of or  afford working with me

These deliberate changes take time, but knowing how they fit into my overall vision for my life helped me persist and give these habits the time required to make an impact.

And the results show that the process of personal transformation is well underway...

Not Magic, Just Magical

This is not magic, even though the results are magical. And I am not alone in experiencing this kind of transformation.

Last year, when participating in one of Michael Hyatt's  programs, I together with a few fellow participants formed a mastermind - a group of committed individuals, coming together to share ideas and resources, supporting each other and holding each other accountable.

5 (out of 7) members of my mastermind report similar or better improvements.

And that's the real value of the LifeScore Assessment. Completing the LifeScore Assessment and having an idea of how you scored in the important areas of your life can be really powerful: it not only tells you where you are, the gap between where you want to be and where you are provides the motivation and creative tension that moves you closer to the life you desire.

So here's what I want you to do:

  1. Take the LifeScore Assessment.
  2. Do it soon (Michael Hyatt typically keeps it open only a few days, as a lead in to his Best Year Ever program)
  3. If you are comfortable, share your score (preferably the entire scoresheet) with me.

And here's what I will do in return:

  1. If you send me a message confirming that you have completed the assessment, I will share further resources on how to interpret your scores and take action to unleash your true potential, make 2018 your best year ever and move closer to the life you desire
  2. If you share your scoresheet with me, I will be happy to offer you a free coaching session, where I can answer any questions you may have, and we can get you started on your own journey of transformation.

But first, take the LifeScore assessment.

PS: I've been a bit of a tease, hinting that I'm working with Michale Hyatt to bring you something special to Make 2018 Your Best Year Ever. While the LifeScore Assessment is really cool, that's NOT it. What is? Stay tuned...
